Neoprene Prints

I've been a little bit of a gypsy lately- living out of my suitcase and spending more time chasing planes, trains, and automobiles than anything else. This past Friday I made my way down to DC to celebrate one of my best friend's engagement. Although I could've used the rest, I wouldn't have missed it for the world and it actually gave me some additional energy by being able to catch up with friends and witness a couple that when you watch them from across the room, you know they are meant to be and will be together forever. It's truly refreshing.

Sorry for the brief sappy moment... Haha

For the engagement party I wore this neoprene Clover Canyon Printed Dress that I found on sale at Revolve Clothing. I love neoprene, which is essentially wet suit material. My sister makes fun of me when I wear neoprene and calls me Scuba Stephie (if you aren't catching the Big Daddy reference, please gain some culture and go watch it!) Since the print has a lot going on, I kept the jewelry simple and carried my go-to Tory Burch envelope clutch in orange and then for shoes I wore these amazing gold metal plated Steve Madden wedges that I got on sale at Lord & Taylor.

Barbie's Playhouse

Living in New York City, I try to embrace the black uniform as much as possible in the Fall an Winter because when I stray from it, I stick out like a sore thumb and look like a complete out of towner. During the summer however, I am so tired of not being able to wear my bright colors and patterns that I love and adore that I really take advantage, sometimes to the point of overkill. This outfit is a perfect example which makes me laugh and reminds me of Barbie's Playhouse. Most New Yorkers will probably feel nauseous at the site of this, but I can live with that!

Summertime Romp

Although I do love rompers, they really can be hit or miss with whether they are flattering or not and if they aren't, they tend to make women look like overgrown babies. There are definitely different cut rompers that are best for specific body types. This BCBGeneration romper is a perfect summer lovin' outfit being that it's a fresh floral print. Dress it down with a denim vest and flat sandals or make it a little fancier with a pair of wedges, it works for multiple occasions :)

Details: Romper: BCBGeneration. Wedges: Steve Madden. Necklace: Rebecca Minkoff. Cuff Bracelet: C Wonder. Bag: R + J

Spring High-Lows

So yesterday was absolutely gorgeous in the city and for the first time I think Spring might actually be here to stay (for 2 weeks until summer begins). I looked ahead at the forecast and decided that I was going to wear a very West Coast outfit that I had worn a couple of weeks ago while I was in LA. The reaction was hysterical. I decided to ignore the fact that New Yorkers are permanently in black and jump head first into splashed colors. I wore this tie dye high/low skirt that my sister picked out for me last year at South Moon Under. I was a little hesitant towards high-low last year because they were everywhereeee but this was my first and I love it! I looked even more ridiculous given the fact that there was a little wind so when I walked down the street I had this floating tail following behind me. Sometimes you just have to be able to giggle at yourself...

Here are some High-Low Skirt options from Lulus.com that I love: Print & Solid with Lace Panel

photo-53

I wore one of my summer staples - my cropped jean vest from Zara with studded collar. Get ready to see this vest a lot because I'm obsessed with it and during the hot summer use it as a fall back to wear my "warm weather" clothes a little more work appropriate. Here is a great Denim Vest option from ShopAkira

photo-54

Since I wore a plain white sugar lips tank top underneath the vest, I decided to wear 2 of my newest necklaces layered together. The shorter necklace that says "DREAM" is a BCBGeneration affirmation necklace and the long necklace with heart and horn charm is Rebecca Minkoff. I bought the Dream necklace at Lord&Taylor but here is the bracelet version which is also adorable

As seen in other posts I also wore my Juicy white aviator sunnies and my staple summer wedges from Lulus.com

Leather Pleats and Pixelated Prints

I know you guys are probably so over me posting about leather - but I can't help my obsession. I love the way leather looks trendy and luxurious with a sexy twist. I found this amazing lamb leather pleated skirt from BCBG and was able to bag it 60% off (thank god). I love this skirt because you can take it a couple different directions.

For this outfit I tried to take it a date-night direction by wearing it with a full coverage shirt. The pixelated print is a sheer silk top from BCBG also. Here's another great BCBG print top - they are great for any occasion - both work and nights out. Ignore my untamed hair below

I accessorized the look with an oversized python Rebecca Minkoff Clutch. I found the same one on sale on Bluefly. I carry clutches almost every time I go out at night and this is my absolute favorite shape/silhouette. My favorite thing about this bag is that the hardware is actually black so you can wear it with both silver and gold jewelry.

You've probably noticed these wedges being featured in a few of my posts - I found them 2 years ago on Lulu's and then wore them out/beat the crap out of them so much that I searched the internet to find them so I could reorder them for this Spring/Summer. They are actually a brand I've never heard of - Yoki but they are the perfect mid-height and a great neutral color. Ever girl needs a go-to pair of wedges for summer right? The icing on the cake with this outfit were my Men's Tom Ford Sunnies that I used to hide the designer bags that I was sporting under my eyes

White Leather to Denim for Spring

This past weekend I visited my family in Northern VA/DC and had a jam packed- planned to the minute weekend. I always giggle to myself when I pack to go home because my style is so frightening to people in DC. I feel like when I'm there people look at me like I'm Lady Gaga. I normally pack and then go back and edit so I can be a little more focused in my choices and less *out there*. I kinda do enjoy the shock value (a little)- hence wearing a My Little Ponies T-shirt with Leather pants to the gun range this weekend with my Dad and sister- but that's a different story.

Here's an outfit that I wore this weekend when I was pal-ing around/ recovering from a late night of dancing to a live band with Currently Coveting

Yep- I'm wearing the Spring update to my denim to leather Post. I have a huge crush on these BCBGeneration WHITE leather to denim pants. The concept is unheard of and I realllllly don't care about that stupid-ass rule about white pants before Memorial Day. It's dumb. If the sun is shining and you're feeling it~ wear it.

DSC_4989

My sunglasses believe it or not are Juicy Couture. I think every girl looks awesome in white aviators because they brighten up your face. They are from years ago but here is a page of affordable white aviator options. However my favorite ones will always be these Gucci ones

DSC_5004

On top I'm wearing a BCBGeneration light chambray shirt (also referred to as jirt) with an Urban Outfitters Floral Graphic cut-off tank. The slits on the side go pretty low so I wore a white tank underneath as well.

For the accessories I might have gone slightly overboard - but I'm okay with it. The bag is a Rebecca Minkoff studded crossbody. I got this years ago and I wear it a lot more than I ever would've imagined for the fact that I'm a oversized-bag girl. No big shocker here I sported a BCBGeneration arm party with Affirmation Bracelets - I told you I wear these almost everyday. The ones for this outfit say FREE and BLESSED :) And then my ring is from Max and Chloe. Here's another fun bright pink option from that site

Tulip Skirts and Sheer Shirts

You can never go wrong with the classic Black and Red combo. I found this adorable flared red tulip skirt at Zara a while back and I've since seen the same cut in other patterns there so it must've been popular. Here are a couple red mini skirt options from ASOS: option1 option2

You can't really see it from the first picture but I paired it with a sheer long bell sleeve top with black embroidery detail which is much more visible in the second picture. The top was also a Zara find. Since I wore this to work (ha) I wore a black tank top underneath the sheer shirt so that it wasn't too risque. Here is a similar top in white. And here is another black lace option

I added this cute C. Wonder Leopard Wrap Bracelet with gold stud bracelet - and once again my Jennifer Zeuner Evil Eye Bracelet. Heres the same size for the C Wonder bracelet in python & here is another C Wonder Leopard option

The rest of the outfit details are standard black opaque tights which can be purchased anywhere and then basic black leather wedges from Aldo. Here is a suede version from ASOS

Keepin it Comfy & Casual for Friday with Wedge Sneakers

You can't wear high heels everyday... So that's why they made wedge sneakers! Just kidding (kinda). Today I wanted to spotlight a trend I'm seeing everywhere. Sportswear hit New York Fashion week by storm this September and from it emerged wedge high-top sneakers. From Aldo to Bergdorf Goodman this trend is showing up at all levels of distribution. I would say the most popular brand going after this trend is Ash. They have the cutest silhouettes in the most vibrant pop colors. But let's be real... Are wedge sneakers going to be in next Fall? Or are they going to go into my Good Will pile when I go to transition my closet next year? Who knows.... But I wasn't keen on spending $165-$225 and upwards on something I wasn't sure was sticking around for more than a season. I went on Amazon and sure enough I was able to get a pair for $45 and a pair for $58. If your are looking to test the waters with this trend at an affordable price I suggest you start there. But here are some other links of designer brands and their interpretation of the trend: Ash, Ash2, Giuseppe Zanotti, Prada, Jimmy Choo, and the list goes on

Here is how I wore my wedge tennies on casual Friday. Kept it simple with a zip up sweatshirt from Nordstrom years ago & AG jeans. If you have a body and struggle with finding the right fit in jeans, BUY AG! I'm totally hooked. They have them at Bloomies, Nords, L&T, Saks, Neimans, but if you're looking for a deal I've seen them and purchased them off of online flash sites like rue lala, ideeli, and Hautelook. They are definitely worth the original ticket price though.

My pop of color in this outfit comes from the accessories - Gold and Pink. The bracelet was a Xmas gift from my sister and its by Jennifer Zeuner. I love the evil eye and haven't taken it off since I got it (even when I wear silver jewelry).

The Ring was a birthday gift from my Dad :) It's by Dara Ettinger and he got it from Henri Bendels but you can find a lot of her stuff on one of my favorite jewelry websites Max and Chloe
